For the Swedish launch of the novel The Kill List, the publisher set the brief to create a design concept for its book cover.
The story of the book circles around deciphering the identity of a cyber-terrorist, through digital means.
Since the book is all about decrypting an identity, I wanted to bring that into the design.
So I used a somewhat unusual approach. And built a program that gradually decrypts an image.
Saving each part of the process as a separate file, ready for digital printing.
One file for every copy of the book. So with every copy, the cover changes. Each change revealing more.
The algorithm being custom built, the size of the edition can be set to virtually any number.
With every book completely unique.
